At the factory setting this mill is perfect. The husk is left in tact, and the endosperm is cracked and exposed. I'm getting great performance on my Grainfather with this mill. The hopper holds a lot, and the mill is easy to crank. I hand crank my grain since I'm only doing 5 gallon batches. This mill is less tiring than the 2 roller mills.
